【書籍紹介】These 31 interdisciplinary papers are from the 2005 and 2006 international workshops of the UN University and the Jawaharlal Nehru University. Some 50 scientists from China, India, Japan, Laos, Nepal and Thailand explored the future sustainability and needs of the economic of montane Central Asia, and brought together a very wide spectrum of data and experience. In Section 1 the papers address the policy and institutional dimensions of shifting agriculture as it is. Section 2 deals with improving shifting agriculture, with particular reference to environmental conservation and livelihood. Section 3 puts forward a synthesis for future research and development.
