Outline:
his program aims to provide an opportunity under which both young scholars from Asian countries and research fellows at Kyoto University can give an interactive presentation related to their research outcomes. We put forward a new paradigm of sustainable humanosphere based on area studies, in order to activate intellectual dialogues among young scholars. The workshop will be held at Kyoto University for 2 days, where the presentations will be held on the first day followed by a general discussion on the second day.

■The excursion to field stations in Kyoto and Shiga

Date:March 6-8 ,2009
Venue:Keiji Field Station, Kyoto University.

Outline:
3. The purpose of this program is to help 14 invited scholars from Asian countries to gain an effective understanding of the activities at a field station where Japanese specialists conduct their area studies. A further aim is to mutually deepen the awareness of the expertise involved in the research of both the 14 invited scholars and the research fellows of Kyoto University. In this respect a 3-day excursion will be carried out to a field station in Shiga prefecture in order to inspect the area of the field work operated by the station.

■The second International Symposium “Biosphere as a Global Force of Change”

Date:March 9-11 ,2009
Venue: Inamori Foundation Memorial Hall, Kyoto University

Outline:
4. 14 young scholars from Asian countries will be invited to participate in the second International Symposium “Biosphere as a Global Force of Change” organized by the G-COE program and share cutting-edge research outcomes with both Japanese research fellows and International researchers.
